EPL: Solskjaer sets new Premier League record in Man United’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool

Manchester United caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday set a new Premier League record following his side’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League. Both Man United and Liverpool failed to score at Old Trafford as the two teams lacked any real clear-cut chances during the match. According to Metro UK, Solskjaer became the first manager in the Premier League history to win most points after ten matches in charge of a club in the English top-flight league. The report claimed that Solskjaer broke the record held by former Chelsea manager, Guus Hiddink. Solskjaer was appointed as United temporary coach following the sack of former Red Devils boss, Jose Mourinho in December. Man United’s results against Liverpool means, Jurgen Klopp’s side return to the top of the Premier League table with one point ahead of second-placed of Manchester City.

Arsenal thump BATE to reach Europa League last 16

Arsenal reached the last 16 of the Europa League by comfortably seeing off BATE Borisov 3-0 on Thursday and overturning a first-leg deficit that had threatened one of the tournament favourites with elimination. BATE came into the clash at the Emirates with hopes of an upset after beating Arsenal 1-0 in Belarus last week, but the hosts were level on aggregate after just three minutes when Zakhar Volkov sliced Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s low cross past Denis Scherbitski in his own goal. Emery’s side poured forward and put themselves deservedly ahead in the tie when Shkodran Mustafi thumped home a header six minutes before the break.  Maksim Skavysh missed a good chance to put BATE ahead on away goals when Arsenal failed to clear three minutes after the restart, but another powerful header, this time from Sokratis on the hour mark, put the Gunners into Friday’s draw.  “We wanted this result but also we wanted to play for our supporters here, to improve and build our mentality aft...

Manchester United into top four with 3-0 win at Fulham

Manchester United rolled to their 10th win in 11 games under caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a 3-0 win at Fulham on Saturday, climbing into the top four in the Premier League for the first time since the opening weekend. Paul Pogba fired United ahead from an impossibly tight angle in the 14th minute, springing in behind the defence and onto a pass from Anthony Martial on the left, turning and shooting first time between keeper Sergio Rico and the near post. Martial doubled the lead nine minutes later in style, collecting the ball on the halfway line, jinking past Denis Odoi and racing all the way into the area before stroking his shot beyond the reach of Rico. Fulham had begun the game brightly, creating four shots in the first five minutes, but their chances petered out and they seemed to lose confidence as United controlled the ball for long periods. Their best chance was in the opening minute when Andre Schurrle broke forward and floated the ball across the area and down in...
