Liverpool return to the top of the Premier League

Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League table with a commanding victory over Bournemouth at Anfield.


Sadio Mane opened the scoring with a header in the first half and Georginio Wijnaldum doubled the lead with a deft lob.
Mohamed Salah made it three shortly after half-time, converting after a neat back-heel from Roberto Firmino

Manchester United have reportedly withdrawn their interest in Ajax defender, Matthijs de Ligt. There were reports over the weekend suggesting that United could move for the £65m-rated Netherlands international this summer. However, Sky Sports is reporting on Sunday that United have withdrawn the interest they had in De Ligt. According to the newspaper, many among the Old Trafford hierarchy believe the 19-year-old is set to join Barcelona. When asked about his future by the newspaper on Sunday, De Ligt said: “Where do I see myself? Well, obviously the Premier League is a big competition, Spain also, but you have other competitions, it’s not (just) about those two. “I still don’t know anything about where my future is, so I see how it goes. Transfer: Manchester United submit bid to sign Ajax goalkeeper as De Gea’s replacement

Manchester United have submitted a bid to sign Ajax goalkeeper, Andre Onana, the Daily Record reports. United have been in talks with David De Gea, over a new contract but nothing has been agreed yet. De Gea has just one year remaining on his current contract and would be free to negotiate with teams in Europe from the start of January. The Spain international is demanding a significant increase on his current deal, that would see him earn parity with Alexis Sanchez, who earns a basic salary of £400,000 a week. But United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is not willing to match De Gea’s terms and is now actively seeking replacements. The club has submitted a bid for Onana, but Ajax have rejected the offer. United are also unwilling to meet Ajax’s asking price for Onana and are considering Barcelona goalkeeper, Jasper Cillessen, as an alternative signing. Cillessen, who joined Barcelona from Ajax, is valued in excess of €25m (£22m).
